Maintenance

A Practical Greenhouse Maintenance Checklist

Key checks for structures, covering, cooling, doors and irrigation systems.

Routine inspection helps identify small problems before they affect the structure or growing environment. The frequency of each check should reflect the site, equipment and operating conditions.

Inspect the structure and fixings

Look for movement, corrosion, loose connections and damaged sections. Pay attention to doors, frames and points where covering materials connect to the structure.

Check covers and nets

Tears, open seams and worn fastening points can reduce protection. Repair minor damage promptly and plan replacement where material condition has declined.

Service ventilation and cooling

Inspect fans, guards, motors, electrical connections and cooling pads. Keep air paths clear and investigate unusual sound, vibration or uneven airflow.

Review irrigation performance

Check filters, pumps, valves, main lines and emitters for leaks, blockage and uneven delivery. Record repairs and recurring issues to guide future preventive work.
